Food systems are facing growing pressure from climate change, changing diets, population growth and the need for more resilient supply chains. Responding to these challenges will require innovations in all facets of our food systems, as well as stronger collaboration across public sector, private sector, research and academia, development partners, and implementing partners across civil society.

The Rwanda Food Innovation Partnership (RFIP) serves as a multi-stakeholder platform to envision, design, commercialize, and scale innovations across African food systems. RFIP connects partners who can contribute technology, research, expertise, investment, networks and implementation support, so innovations move from development to market, and from Rwanda to the African continent. It drives Rwanda's vision to become Africa's leading food systems innovation destination by 2035, delivering improved food security and nutrition, dignified jobs, and economic transformation.

Following the launch of the RFIP Partners Group at the Africa Food Systems Forum in September, 2026, this one-hour virtual session will provide an introduction to RFIP, its priorities in advancing the Rwanda Food Innovation Ecosystem Strategy, and the different ways organizations can engage.

The session will cover

The Rwanda Food Innovation Ecosystem Strategy, including its objectives and its priority innovation domains
The RFIP programs currently taking shape, including the Policy & Regulatory Accelerator, the Investment Accelerator, the Venture and SME Accelerator, and the Human Capital Development Accelerator
The purpose and nature of the RFIP Partners Group
How interested organizations can join and opportunities for collaboration

Participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions and share their areas of interest in open exchange with the RFIP Secretariat and other partners.

Who should attend

The session is open to anyone working in public sector, private sector, research and academia, development institutions, and civil society institutions that has an interest in advancing food innovations across Rwanda and African food systems that can drive healthier outcomes, can be more environmentally friendly, and can create more jobs and improved livelihoods.
